Pros and Cons of replacing iPhone LCD by yourself.

I have posted couple article and tutorial about how to replace your own iPhone LCD.
Pros of replacing iPhone LCD by yourself.
1.save money and time.
① If you go to the apple store,first Apple.com -> iPhone 6 ( you can choose your own model) ->find a store (scroll down to the bottom)->zip code->select the nearest store(view store details)->Genius Bar->iPhone(choose your model again)->Service request & troubleshooting ->Display Cracked( you can choose another if you have another problem)->phone number / email -> select the time you are available to be there.
Spend your  3 minutes to make an appointment.
You have to go there 15 minutes earlier than your appointment’s time. spend 2~3 hours to wait,replace iPhone 6 LCD will cost $194.
Total :   Time = 3 minutes (make an appointment) + 1 hour driving + 2.5 hour waiting = 3 hour 33 minutes.
Money = $194(install fee) + $6(parking + Gas/bus fee) = $200
②If you go to the iPhone repair Store
call them and make sure the time they are available to replace iPhone 6 LCD for you.
Total:  Time depends on your home far from repair store, it usually take within 2 hours.
money will around $120,different repair store have own different price.
③if you replace by yourself.
The price will around $68 if you buying in eBay,iPhone 6 price on our website will change lately.
so you only spend $68 and within 1 hour to replace the screen.
How many days you need to wait before you can choose the three options on the top?
Apple store : 3~7 days
Repair store: 1~3 days
Replace DIY: 1~5 days
Cons of replacing iPhone LCD by yourself.
1.If you’re new for replacing iPhone LCD,You may end up messing it up.
2.Apple can’t change new iPhone 6 for you if you wanna change brand new one.
PS: if you keep the broke screen,you won’t have 2’s problem.

  1. I found that replacing the LCD screen on my own created way too many problems, and I ended up destroying my phone. Unless you are confident you know what you're doing, spending the extra time and money to have the phone fixed professionally is most likely the much safer route to take.

  2. I definitely agree that replacing it yourself is a better option. A few weeks ago I ran into a flowerpot phone-first (don't ask me how it happened), and called the Apple store for an appointment. I was shocked at how expensive it was to replace the screen there! I replaced it myself, which was much cheaper and less of a hassle.

  4. Have you cracked your iPhone LCD? You will curse gravity if you find yourself in a similar situation. You have two options, replace the LCD yourself or get it done by Apple. Here are the pros of replacing the LCD yourself; saves money and time. Here are the con of fixing it yourself; high likelihood of messing up and the fact that you can’t change a new one in Apple.
